It’s a normal weekday afternoon when you hear the doorbell ring. There’s a woman at the door with a big smile on her face, you’ve never seen her before. She introduces herself as your new neighbor. She seems friendly. You exchange numbers just incase either of you need anything, and you recommend her to the church you and your wife have attended regularly for years. Over the next couple of weeks you keep seeing your neighbor, she seems to always be coming around for something. Most of it seems innocent enough, but you can’t help to get this feeling like something is wrong. Throughout the interactions you realize something is off about this woman, but it’s not overt enough to be confrontational about. She won’t stop mentioning your wife going out of town, and she seems to find every excuse possible to prolong your interactions that ought to be brief. You start to worry, but you think to yourself that she’s probably just an overly friendly lady with a little crush. Nothing to be actually afraid of… right? Then she starts being aggressive, pushy, and breaking obvious boundaries that no sane person would ever even dream of doing. She bangs on your window when you don’t answer the door, she steals one of your shirts from your dirty laundry, she keeps insisting on coming inside and trying to make plans to hangout while your wife is gone. You start to get creeped out for real. You manage to get her to leave, but only just.
