Getting ready for my date tonight, I glide the last swipe of gloss across my lips, the sparkly dress riding so high I can already feel the cool air kissing the bottom of my cheeks. Your jaw is clenched. “You look… amazing!” I start to laugh, but I suddenly stop when you step closer. “I don’t want you to go,” you plead. My heart tumbles… because I know that voice.
